Snake gourd ( Pudalangai ) Varuval



Ingredients:

  • Snake gourd - 1 no
  • Besan flour - 3 1/2 to 4 tblspn
  • Rice flour - 1 tblspn
  • Corn flour - 1 tblpsn
  • Turmeric powder -1/4 tspn or even less
  • Chilli powder -   3/4 tspn
  • White ellu (til seeds) - 1/2 tspn
  • Salt - to taste
  • Lime juice - few drops
  • Curry leaves - few nos
  • Asafoetida powder - a pinch
  • Oil  - for deep fry

Method:

  • Cut the pudalangai in to two halves remove the inner seeds and cut in to thin 1 or 2 inch stick, add salt and keep it aside for 15 mins
  • Then squeeze out the water from the pudalangai by pressing with hands
  • In a bowl take all the ingredients except oil and pudalangai and mix well, then add pudalangai  
  • Mix them well check for salt , add lime juice springle little water at a time and stir so that pudalangai pieces are covered with dough 
  • Heat oil in a pan take handful of mixture and  deep fry it in oil and repeat  the procedure
  • Serve the tasty pudalangai varuval with rice or can take it as a snack
