Broad beans or Avarakkai is good for Diabetic and Anemic patients
Ingredients:
- Avarakkai or Broad beans - 250 gms or chopped 2 Cups
- Moong Dhall - 1/2 Cup
- Sambar Powder - 1 tspn
- Salt - to taste
- Grated Coconut - 2 tblspn ( Optional )
For Seasoning:
- Mustard - 1tspn
- Split Urad Dhall - 1-1/2 tspn
- Asafoetida Powder - a pinch
- Dried Red Chilli - 2 nos
- Curry Leaf - few nos
- Oil - 1 tblspn
Method:
- Cut the avarakkai ( not so thin ) medium size and keep it aside
- In a vessel take moon dhal add 1 cup of water , salt, sambar powder and chopped avarakkai
- Cook them by keep in pressure cooker for 3 whistle or until dhall becomes soft
- Switch off the stove and allow the pressure to release
- Heat oil in a kadai , add mustard after it burst add urad dhall, dry red chilli, asafoetida powder and curry leaves
- Add this seasoning to the dhall avarakkai mixture and mix them well
- Healthy and tasty avarakkai or broad beans kootu is ready
