Ananya's Healthy and Tasty Avarakkai or Broad Beans Kootu



                         Broad beans or Avarakkai is good for Diabetic and Anemic patients

Ingredients:
  • Avarakkai or Broad beans - 250 gms or chopped 2 Cups
  • Moong Dhall - 1/2 Cup
  • Sambar Powder - 1 tspn
  • Salt - to taste
  • Grated Coconut - 2 tblspn ( Optional )

For Seasoning:
  • Mustard - 1tspn
  • Split Urad Dhall - 1-1/2 tspn
  • Asafoetida Powder - a pinch
  • Dried Red Chilli - 2 nos
  • Curry Leaf - few nos
  • Oil - 1 tblspn
Method:
  • Cut the avarakkai ( not so thin ) medium size and keep it aside
  • In a vessel take moon dhal add 1 cup of water , salt, sambar powder and chopped avarakkai
  • Cook them by keep in pressure cooker for 3 whistle or until dhall becomes soft
  • Switch off the stove and allow the pressure to release
  • Heat oil in a kadai , add mustard after it burst add urad dhall, dry red chilli, asafoetida powder and curry leaves
  • Add this seasoning to the dhall avarakkai mixture and mix them well
  • Healthy and tasty avarakkai or broad beans kootu is ready
