Poha Pakoda ( Aval Fried Snack )



Ingredients:

  • Red Poha - 1 cup and 2 tblspn ( I used red thick poha )
  • Besan flour - 2 tblspn
  • Rice flour - 1 tspn
  • Broken peanut - 1 1/2 tspn
  • Chilli powder - 1/2 to 1 tspn
  • Chopped green chilli - 1 tspn
  • Asafoetida powder - 1/4 tspn
  • Curry and coriander leaves - few nos
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - for deep frying

Method:

  • Wash and soak the red poha in water for 1/2 hr or more ( ie poha should become tender that we can smashed with  a hand, i soaked for an hr )
  • Drain the water and squeeze with hand to remove excess water, add salt and smash it nicely with hand to form a dough
  • To the dough add all the remaining ingredients except oil, salt and poha
  • Mix them well , take small dough and make round shape and keep it in a plate repeat it for remaining dough
  • Heat oil in a kadai, deep fry it ( frying 5 pieces in a batch or more depends on amount of oil used )
  • Serve hot the poha pakoda along with evening coffee or tea.
