Ananya's Healthy Ponnan Kanni Keerai Masiyal



Ingredients:

  • Chopped Keerai - 2 cups
  • Moong Dal - 2 and a half tblspn
  • Turmeric powder - a pinch
  • Onion - 1 medium size
  • Tomato - 1/2 
  • Sambar powder - 1/2 tspn
  • Garlic pods - 3 nos
  • Salt - to taste
For Seasonings:

  • Oil - 1 tspn
  • Mustard - 1/2 tspn
  • Jeera - 1/4 tspn
  • Broken urad dal - 1/4 tspn
  • Dry red chilli - 1 no
Method:

  • Pluck the leaves from the stem , wash it thoroughly and chop it
  • Cook moong dal in pressure cooker for 3 to 4 whistle along with turmeric pwd
  • Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard when it pops out add jeera,urad dal and red chilli
  • when dal turns golden brown add chopped onion and garlic saute it for 2 mins
  • Then add Chopped tomato and saute for 2 mins, now add sambar powder
  • Mix well and add 2 tspn water 
  • After 2 mins add chopped keerai , mix well with the masala and close the lid
  • Keep in low flame till the keerai cooks. After that add the cooked moong dal, salt and mix well
  • After a minute switch off the stove and serve healthy ponnan kanni keerai masiyal
