Diwali Special Vellai Theankuzhal Murukku







Ingredients:

  • Rice flour - 2 cups
  • Urad dhall - 1/4 cup
  • Butter - 1 tblspoon
  • Salt  - To taste
  • Cumin seeds - 1 to 2 tspn
  • Asafoedita Powder - 1/2 tspn
  • Oil - for deep fry

Method:

  • Slightly fry the rice and dhall separetly in empty pan and powdered them or buy rice flour and dhal powder readily available in shop
  • Heat oil in a pan, meanwhile in a bowl add butter, salt mix them well then add rice flour, dhal powder, cumin seed, asafoetida powder and make soft dough by adding little water
  • Take a small amount of dough and place inside the murukku maker which as thenkuzhal murukku attachment
  • Press the dough on the oil in the pan and you will find the dough coming out shaped as thenkuzhal . Slightly rotate the maker round and round until you make a circle
  • After it cooked take it out and keep it on butter paper to absorb excess oil.
  • Keep it in airtight container.
