Ingredients:
- Rice ( basmathi or daily using rice) - 1 cup
- Onion - 1 big size
- Tomato - 3 to 4 nos
- Garlic - 2 flakes
- Ginger chopped - 2 tspn
- Chopped Coriander - 1/4 cup
- Green chilli - 2 nos
- Turmeric Poweder - 2tspn
- Chilli Powder - 1 to 2 tspn ( according to spicyness )
- Garam Masala - 1 tspn
- Oil - 2 to 3 tablespoon
- Salt - according to taste
For Tempering:
- Mustard seeds - 1 tspn
- Jeera - 1tspn
- Channa dhal - 2 tspn
- Urad dhal - 1 tspn
- Cashewnuts - few nos
- Curry leaves - few nos
Method:
- Cook the rice as separate grain and keep it aside
- Heat 2 tblspn oil in a kadai and add the temperings, after dhals turns brown add onion, green chillies,ginger , garlic and saute nicely
- Now add turmeric and garam masala powder mix well and keep in flame for 2 to 3 mins
- when the raw smell goes add chopped tomato, chilli powder, salt and mix well, close the lid for 3 mins until tomato cooks well
- Mix already cooked rice to this tomato masala and mix well
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve Spicy South Indian Tomato Rice hot.
