Ananya's Easy and Tasty Aval Uppuma









Ingredients:

  • Aval - 4 cups
  • Onion - 1 - 11/2 cup
  • Chopped Green Chilli - 2 tspn
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 tspn
  • Chilli Powder - 1 tspn
  • Asafoetida Powder - 1/4 tspn
  • Lime Juice - 1 - 11/2 tspn
  • Salt - according to taste
For Seasoning:
  • Oil - 2 - 3 tblspns
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 tspn
  • Urad Dhal - 1 tsp
  • Peanut - 11/2 tspn
  • Cashew nut ( if needed ) - 4-5 nos
  • Curry leaves - few nos
Method:
  • Wash the aval and soak in water for 2 to 3 mins if it is thin ( if it is thick aval keep it for 5 mins ), then stained and keep it aside
  • Heat oil in kadai add the seasonings, when the dhal turns light brown add chopped onion, green chillies and saute for 2 mins
  • Then add turmeric, chilli and asafoetida powder ,mix well and keep in low flame for 2 mins 
  • To this add aval and salt mix well and keep in low flame for 2 mins
  • After switch of the flame add lime juice and serve hot
