Ananya's Simple and Tasty Puli Aval






Ingredients:
  • Aval ( thick one white or red ) - 250 gms
  • Tamarind Pulp - 3/4 to 1 cup ( according to your taste )
  • Salt - 1 tspn ( according to taste )
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tspn
  • Chilli Powder - 11/2 tspn


For Seasonings:
  • Oil ( Sesame oil taste nice ) - 2 to 3 tspn 
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tspn
  • Broken Urad Dhal - 1 tspn
  • Whole Urad Dhal - 1 tspn
  • Ground nut ( if want ) - few
  • Dried Red Chilli - 2 no
  • Asafoetida Powder - 1/2 tpsn
  • Curry leaves - few

Method:
  • Soak the aval in tamarind water along with little salt and turmeric powder for 15 to 20 mins
  • Heat oil in the kadai and add the seasonings 
  • To this add Soaked aval by squeezing water from it, now add chilli powder, remaining salt and mix well 
  • Keep in fire for 5 to 10 mts
  • Serve the simple and tasty puli aval for this no side dish needed .
