Murungai Keerai / Drumstick Leaves Rasam




Ingredients:

  • Murungai keerai - 1/2 cup
  • Roasted gram - 2 tspn
  • Whole black pepper - 1 tspn
  • Onion chopped - 1 tblspn
  • Green chilli - 1 no
  • Thin coconut milk - 1 cup
  • Turmeric powder - 2 pinch
  • Coriander leaves - 1 tspn
  • Salt - to taste

To Temper :

  • Oil - 3 tspn
  • Mustard - 1/2 tspn
  • Sombu - 1/2 tspn

Method:

  • Powder the Roasted gram and pepper in to fine powder
  • Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard after it pops out add sombu followed by onion,turmeric powder and green chilli
  • When onion turns light golden brown add keerai and saute for a minute then add 1/2 cup water
  • After 2 to 3 minutes add the pepper, roasted gram powder
  • Then add coconut milk , salt and keep in low flame for a minute or two
  • Swtich off  the stove garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot the healthy murungai keerai rasam
