Uppu Seedai



Ingredients:

  • Rice flour - 1 cup
  • Urad dal flour - 1 tspn
  • Jeera - 1 tspn
  • White til - 1 tspn
  • Butter - 1 tblspn
  • Asafoetida powder - 2 pinches
  • Oil - for deep fry
  • Coconut oil - for making balls
  • Salt - to taste

Method:
Making rice flour:
Soak the rice in water for 1 to 11/2 hrs then drain the water and spread on a clean cloth and dry it
Then make into fine powder in flour mill 

  • Store bought rice flour can also use
  • Sieve the rice flour for 2 times and slightly fry in empty pan
  • In a wide bowl take all the ingredients except coconut oil and oil for deep fry 
  • Mix them well then add water little by little and make thick dough
  • Greese coconut oil in hands and make small balls from the dough and allow it to dry for few mts
  • Heat oil in a kadai and deep fry the seedai till it turns golden brown on both sides ( don't crowd it make small batches )
  • Serve the tasty uppu sedai as side dish for tea or coffee
