Kadappa / Besan Flour Gravy



Ingredients:

  • Potato - 1 big 
  • Carrot - 1 no
  • Onion - 2 no ( medium )
  • Brinji leaf - 1 no
  • Cinnamon stick - 1 no ( 2 inch )
  • Fennel seeds - 1  tspn
  • Besan flour - 2 tblspn
  • Green chilli - 3 to 4 nos ( slit )
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 3 tspn

Method:

  • Wash thoroughly and chop the carrot and potato in to small cubes
  • Heat oil in a kadai, add cinnamon,brinji leaf, fennel seeds and after it pops out add onion, green chilli and saute
  • Then add carrot, potato and add 3 cups of water and allow the vegetables to cook
  • After the vegetables becomes soft and tender add salt , dissolve 2 tblspn of besan flour in water about 1/4 cup and add to the vegetables
  • Stir them well after the gravy becomes thickened ( according to your consistency ) switch off the stove 
  • Serve the tasty kadappa as side dish to dosai, idli
