Chinese Special Veg Momos



Ingredients:

  • Maida flour - 1 cup
  • Chopped carrot - 1 no
  • Chopped cabbage - 1/4 cup
  • Chopped beans - 2 nos
  • Chopped mushroom - 2 1/2 tblspn
  • Chopped garlic and ginge - 1 tspn each
  • Spring onion white part  chopped - 2 to 3  tblspn
  • Spring onion greeen part chopped - 11/2 tblspn
  • Green chilli chopped - 1 no
  • Soya sauce - 1 tspn
  • Pepper powder - 11/4 tspn
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 2 tspn + 2 tblspn for making dough and coating the momos

Method:

  • Wash and chop all the vegetables and keep it aside




  • In a bowl take maida add salt, 2 tspn oil and add water little by little and make soft dough apply oil on it to avoid dryness, close with a lid or clean cloth and keep it aside for 15 to 20 minutes
  • Heat 2 tspn of oil in a kadai, add ginger, garlic and saute for few seconds then add carrot, beans, keep in low flame for 2 to 3 minutes
  • After carrot cooks add, mushroom, cabbage, white onion, green chilli and saute for few more minutes till all the ingredients cooks well
  • Now add soya sauce, salt and pepper powder and mix it well finally add green spring onion and keep in flame for a min and switch off the stove
  • Allow the mixture to cool down




  • Take small amount ( small goose berry size ) of dough and roll out in to thin small chappathi ( for rolling don't use flour use oil and roll )
  • Place 1 tspn of veg mixture in the centre, bring forward one part to centre (with help of index and thumb take any part and bring it to centre) and by folding bring all the sides  together and twist it and press in centre 
  • You can give any shape of your own choice 
  • Apply oil on the surface to avoid dryness




  • Momos are ready to steam
  • Boil water in a steamer or idli plate and greeze the plate with oil to avoid stickiness place the momos and steam cook it for 7 to 10 mins or untill it becomes glossy on surface




  • Tasty momos are ready to serve
  • Serve the yummy veg momos with  tomato sauce or szchewan chutney or quick dip




Quick Dip

Ingredients:

  • Soya sauce - 2 tblspn
  • Vinegar - 1 to 1 1/4 tspn
  • Water - 4 tblspn
  • Chopped chilli - 1 no
  • Salt - to taste

Method:

  • In a bowl mix all the ingredients well and check the taste
  • If you want you can increase or decrease the amount of vinegar or chilli used
