Mexican Corn Tortilla chips at home


Ingredients:

  • Maize flour - 1 cup
  • Maida - 1/2 cup 
  • Ajwain - 1/2 tspn
  • Salt - to taste
  • warm water - to make dough
  • Oil - 1 tblspn and for deep frying

Method:

  • In a bowl take maize flour, maida, ajwain,oil and salt mix them well
  • Then add warm water little by little and bring it to chapathi dough consistency by kneading it well
  • Close it with a kitchen cloth for 1 hr 
  • Divide the dough into small portions.Roll out each portion thinly with the help of a little flour and prick all over with a fork. Cook lightly on tava.
  • Repeat with the rest of the dough
  • Cut the  small triangles ( first cut it in to four halves then make 2 halves from each pieces ) and deep fry in oil until crisp.
  • Drain on absorbent paper and store in air tight container
  • Serve the corn tortilla chips along with tomato salsa or cheese dip 

Note:

  • If want you can add jeera along with ajwain
  • While cooking in tava cook it lightly ( i cooked till brown spots on both sides ) then only it will look nice without any black spot.
