Masoor Dal Gravy


Ingredients:

  • Masoor dal - 1 cup
  • Water - 3 cups
  • Salt - to taste
  • Coriander leaves - few nos
  • Onion - 1 no
  • Tomato - 1/2 no
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tspn
  • Kasmiri chilli powder - 1/2 tspn
  • Green chilli - 2 nos

For seasonings:

  • Oil  or ghee -  1 tblspn
  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 tspn
  • Jeera - 1/2 tspn
  • Asafoetida powder - 2 pinch
  • Curry leaves - few nos

Method:

  • Pressure cook the masoor dal ( 1 cup dal + 3 cups of water ) for 5 to 6 whistle then cool it and smash it
  • Chop the onion, tomato,green chilli, coriander leaves and keep aside
  • Heat oil or ghee in a kadai, add the seasonings after that add onion,green chilli , saute it till onion becomes pink
  • Then add ginger garlic paste, after the raw smell goes add tomato
  • Keep in low flame till it smashed, then add chilli powder after a minute add the cooked dal
  • Mix all the ingredients well add salt, water as per your need
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve it as side dish for chappathi or puri
