Ananya's Black Channa Curry or Pirattal



Ingredients:

  • Black Chenna - 200 gms
  • Onion - 2 medium size
  • Tomato - 1 small
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tspn
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tspn
  • Chilli powder - 1 to 11/2 tspn
  • Coriander powder - 1 tspn
  • Garam masala - 1/2 tspn
  • Cinnamon - 1 inch stick
  • Cloves - 1 no
  • Coriander leaves - 1 to 2 tblspn
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 11/2 tblspn


Method:

  • Soak the black chenna in water overnight,next day cook the black chenna till it becomes tender with new water in pressure cooker
  • Heat oil in a kadai, add cinnamon, cloves when it pops out add chopped onion and saute it becomes pinkish, then add ginger garlic paste
  • Saute this till raw smell goes, then add chopped tomato mix well and keep in low flame till the tomato cooks well and becomes smash 
  • Now add turmeric, chilli and coriander powder, mix well keep stirring for 2 mins and add cooked chenna mix well, add little water and close the lid
  • After 3 minutes add salt and garam masala and again close the lid for 2 minutes
  • When water completely absorbed switch off the stove and serve black chenna curry with corainder garnish
