Ananya's Yummy Moong Dal (Pasiparuppu) Halwa ( Asoka )




Ingredients:

  • Moong Dal - 1 Cup
  • Sugar - 1-1/2 Cup
  • Orange Colour or Brown Colour - 1 tspn
  • Ghee - 1 Cup or  5 tblspn
  • Cardamon Powder - 1/2 tspn
  • Cashew ( Partly broken ) - 2 tblspn

Method:

  • In a empty pan fry the moong dal nicely till the aroma of the dal comes and cool it
  • Cook the moong dal in pressure for 8 to 10 whistle with 3 cups of water or cook them until it becomes so soft 
  • After that smash the dal with spoon or fork and keep it aside
  • Heat 2 tspn ghee and fry the partly broken cashew till it becomes golden brown and keep it aside
  • In the same kadai add sugar with little water, when sugar completely melts add moong dal, stir well and allow it to cook for 5 to 10 mins with constant stirring
  • Now add 1 tblspn ghee and stir it
  • After 3 to 4 mins add 2 tblspn ghee and mix well
  • When the mixture becomes thick add orange colour or brown colour and mix well
  • Now add 1 tblspn ghee and stir well
  • When oil separates out and mixture becomes so thick ( halwa patham ) add the ghee fried cashew and switch off the stove, serve the Yummy Moong Dal Halwa while it is hot with little ghee on top(optional )


Note:
Sometimes by mistake if the water content becomes high it will take long time to come halwa patham(consistency), At that time add maida or wheat flour to it
This will hardened the mixture and it will comes to halwa patham (consistency)
