Ingredients:
- Rice - 1 cup
- White Sesame Seeds ( Vellai Ellu ) - 100 gms
- Dry Red Chilli - 5 nos ( more or less depends on spicyness required )
- Urad Dal - 1 tblspn
- Asafoetida - a pinch
- Salt - to taste
- Sesame (gingelly) Oil - 1 tblspn
- Mustard Seed - 1/2 tspn
- Curry leaves - few nos
Method:
- Cook the rice as separate strands, add 3 tspn sesame oil to the rice mix well and keep it aside
- Soak sesame seed in water for 5 to 10 mins, then drain the water by filter and keep aside
- In a empty pan fry urad dal, red chilli, when dal becomes slight brown take them and cool it
- In the same pan add and saute, when sesame seeds starts bursting ( pop out sound will come ) add asafoetida and transfer it to another bowl and cool down
- Then grind it in a mixie by adding salt to fine powder
- Add this powder to the cooked rice as required and stir it till sesame powder and rice mixes well
- Heat 1 tspn of gingelly oil in a kadai add mustard seed after it burst add curry leaves and pour over the sesame rice
- Serve the Spicy and Easy Sesame Rice with fried Pappad or Vadams..
- You can store this powder in a airtight container for long time
