Margazhi Special Tasty Ven Pongal





Ingredients:

  • Raw Rice  - 1-1/2 Cup
  • Moong Dhall - 3/4 Cup
  • Pepper - 2- 1/2 tspn
  • Ghee Fried Cashew - 2 tspn ( according to your need )
  • Oil - 5 tspn
  • Ghee - 1 to 2 tblspn 
  • Salt - 1 to 2 tspn ( according to taste )
  • Water - 8 Cups


For Seasoning:

  • Mustard - 1 tspn
  • Jeera - 1-1/2 tspn
  • Chopped Ginger - 1 tspn
  • Asafoetida Powder - 1/4 tspn
  • Curry Leaves - few nos

Method:

  • To a pressure cooker add raw rice, moong dhall, 2 tspn oil, salt and 8 cups of water and allow 8 to 10 whistle for rice to cook nicely
  • Ghee fry the pepper and crushed it
  • When steam gone open the pressure cooker and add crushed pepper
  • Heat 3 tspn oil , ghee and add all seasoning along with cashew and mix them well
  • Serve the tasty Ven Pongal hot with little ghee on top
