Ananya's Tasty and Crunchy Paruppu Usili



Ingredients:
  • Toor Dhall ( Thuvaram Paruppu ) - 1 Cup ( 200 g)
  • Beans (Chopped) - 2 Cups
  • Dried Red Chillies - 12 nos ( I used round red chillies)
  • Mustard  - 1 tspn
  • Broken Urad Dhall - 1 to 11/2 tspn
  • Asafoetida Powder - 1/4 to 1/2 tspn
  • Curry leaf - few nos
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 3 to 4 tblspn


Method:

  • Wash the toor dhall and soak in water for 1hr along with dried red chillies
  •  Drain the water and grind it along with chillies and Salt without adding water
  • Steam this dhall mixture in Idli maker until it cooks well, Meanwhile chop the beans and cook till it becomes tender
  • Then smash the steamed dhall mixture with the help of hand or smash them in mixie for single round you will get soft mixture without any clumps
  • Heat 2 tblspn oil in kadai, add mustard after it burst add urad dhall, asafoetida powder, curry leaf , cooked beans and dhall mixture and mix them well
  • Add remaining 2 tblspn oil and close the lid for few minutes in low flame
  • After few minutes switch of the stove and you will get roasted and crunchy paruppu usili at the bottom, Soft paruppu usili at the top.
  • Serve them hot
