Ananya's Tasty Sooji Uppuma ( Rava uppuma )



Ingredients:

  • Sooji or Rava - 1 cup
  • Water - 2 cups
  • Oil - 11/2 to 2 tblspn
  • Onion - 1/4 cup
  • Chopped ginger - 1 tspn
  • Mustard  - 1/4 tspn
  • Urad dhall - 1/2 tspn
  • Channa gram dhal( kadalai paruppu) - 1/2 tspn
  • Green chilli - 1 nos ( big)
  • Curry leaves - few nos
  • Asafoetida powder - 1/4 tspn
  • Salt - to taste

Method:
  • Fry the sooji or rava in empty pan until it smells good
  • Heat oil in a kadai and add mustard when it finished bursting add urad dhal, channa dhal, after dhal turns light brown colour add onion, green chilli, ginger and saute for a minute
  • When onion turns pink add water and salt 
  • When  water starts to boil add sooji slowly by stirring the water and sooji mixture ( if not mixed well clumps will form ) continue this stirring for all the content
  • Then add curry leaves and close the lid for few seconds
  • when sooji cooked switch of the stove and serve hot
