Ananya's Easy and Tasty Green Gram Masala ( Patchai Payaru )



Ingredients:

  • Green Gram Dal - 1 Cup
  • Onion Chopped - 1/4 Cup
  • Tomato Chopped - 1 tblspn
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tspn
  • Chilli Powder - 1-1/2 tspn ( depends on spiceness )
  • Gram Masala - 1 tspn
  • Lemon Juice - 1 to 1-1/2 tblspn
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tspn
  • Salt - to taste
  • Chopped Coriander - 2 tblspn or required amount
  • Cinnamon - 1 inch stick
  • Cloves - 2 nos
  • Oil - 1 tblspn

Method:

  • Soak the green gram dal in water for 2 hrs and cook them in pressure cooker for 3 whistle or till it cooks well
  • Heat oil in a kadai, add cinnamon, cloves and after that add chopped onion, when onion turns pale add tomato saute it 
  • Then add ginger garlic paste, after raw smell goes add turmeric powder, chilli powder and garam masala and mix well
  • After 3 mins ( or after oil separates )add cooked green gram, then add salt and little quantity of water and mix well
  • keep it in low flame for 3 to 5 mins and switch off the stove
  • 5 mins later add lemon juice ( requied amount ) and mix well
  • Serve the tasty green gram masala with chopped coriander and onion garnishing
