Ingredients:
- Rava - 1 cup
- Water - 3 to 3.5 cups
- Onion - 1 big
- Tomato - 1 small
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tspn
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tspn
- Green chilli - 3 to 4 nos
- Curry leaves - few nos
- Coriander leaves - few nos
- Mustard - 1 tspn
- Channa dal - 11/2 tspn
- Broken urad dal - 1/2 tspn
- Cinnamon stick - 1 no ( 2 inch )
- Cloves - 3 nos
- Bay leaf - 1 no
- Salt - to taste
- Oil - 2 to 2.5 tblspn
- Ghee - 3 tspn
Method:
- Use roasted rava readily available or roast the rava in empty pan till aroma comes ( don't burn it)
- Heat oil and 1tspn of ghee in a kadai, add mustard, after it pops add cinnamon, cloves, bay leaf
- Then add onion,curry leaves, green chillies, ginger garlic paste , after the onion turns pale pink add tomato,turmeric powder and mix well
- Keep the burner in low flame for 2 minutes , now add 3 cups of water and allow it to boil
- While water is boiling add salt , then keep the stove in low flame and add the rava slowly with constant stirring otherwise it becomes clumps
- Mix all the ingredients well and add 2 tspn of ghee after the rava cooked add coriander leaves and switch off the stove
- Serve the tasty masala rava kichadi along with coconut chutney or sambar or even with a pickle
Note:
- First add 3 cups water, meanwhile in other side keep the water in low boiling so when we require water we can add that
- You can use grated carrot, beans , green peas also for colour ful kichadi
- The quantity of garam masala i mentioned above gives slight masala flavour if you want you can add more garam masala or ginger garlic paste
