Ingredients:
- Raw Rice - 1 Cup (200g)
- Jaggery - 1 Cup ( if want more sweet add 1-1/4 Cup)
- Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
- Moong Dal - 1 tblspn
- Cashew - Few nos
- Cardamon Powder - 1/2 tspn
- Ghee - 1 to 2 tablespoon
- Water - 3-1/2 Cups
Method:
- Fry the rice in empty pan until it turns light brown, cool it and broke into small pieces like sooji
- Fry the Cashew in ghee
- Boil 2 cups of water and add this broken rice and mix well, when rice absorbs all water switch off the stove
- Then add 1/2 Cup of water to the rice mixture and cook in pressure cooker for 3 to 4 whistle
- Cook the moong dal till it becomes soft and keep it aside
- Heat jaggery in a kadai with little water, when it dissolves completely in water and becomes thick add the rice mixture, grated coconut, cardamon powder, ghee fried cashew , dal and mix well
- Keep the mixture for 5 to 10 mins in low flame
- Switch of the stove and serve the thiruvatharai special kali with kootu as side dish
