Thiruvatharai Special Kali






Ingredients:

  • Raw Rice - 1 Cup (200g)
  • Jaggery - 1 Cup ( if want more sweet add 1-1/4 Cup)
  • Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Moong Dal - 1 tblspn
  • Cashew - Few nos 
  • Cardamon Powder - 1/2 tspn
  • Ghee - 1 to 2 tablespoon
  • Water - 3-1/2 Cups


Method:

  • Fry the rice in empty pan until it turns light brown, cool it and broke into small pieces like sooji
  • Fry the Cashew in ghee 
  • Boil 2 cups of water and add this broken rice and mix well, when rice absorbs all water switch off the stove
  • Then add 1/2 Cup of water to the rice mixture and cook in pressure cooker for 3 to 4 whistle
  • Cook the moong dal till it becomes soft and keep it aside
  • Heat jaggery in a kadai with little water, when it dissolves completely in water and becomes thick add the rice mixture, grated coconut, cardamon powder, ghee fried cashew , dal and mix well
  • Keep the mixture for 5 to 10 mins in low flame
  • Switch of the stove and serve the thiruvatharai special kali with kootu as side dish
